A couple of people have written to me, whining about the recent glut of Brit chicks appearing in the Weekend Women. ”How ‘bout some good ol’ Murkin wimmenfolk,” they moan piteously.
Well, okay, fellers. How much more American can you get than the lady for whom short pants were named, Daisy Duke? (Yeah, okay, Catherine Bach.)
Yeah, the Dukes of Hazzard was the moronic show to end all moronic shows, and no doubt contributed hugely to the international stereotype of Southerners being dumb-ass hicks.
It doesn’t matter. I first saw the Dukes during my first visit to the U.S. in 1982, and never missed an episode until I caught the plane back to South Africa. And lemme tell ya, I didn’t watch the show for the storyline or fine acting. No, sirree.
She didn’t have to wear the short pants to look fine, either:
And even in black & white, Miss Daisy looks incredible:
Let’s hear it, boys:
YEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!
