Here’s one of those interesting little numbers that seems to be just the thing to take on a hiking trip, stuffed into a coat or jeans pocket, popped in the tackle box, or whatever.
Yes, this is not your 25-yard precision weapon—it might not even be a 25-foot precision weapon—but at 25 inches, or better yet, rammed right up against the Object Of Danger, I can think of few better. It’s the American Derringer Model 4—shooting a choice of the very manly .45 Colt or .410ga. shotshell, with two barrels (one of each, perhaps?).
Two blasts of this anti-goblin/Dangerous Beast medicine, and I can guarantee that said thing’s attention will be at least momentarily distracted.
