Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)

Oh, good grief. I make an innocent post about the desirability of the Remington 7400 as a fine "non-assault rifle", and get blizzards of email about the venerable Browning Automatic Rifle, and why did I leave it off?
Okay. My "hassles" with the BAR are these (bearing in mind that I was looking for an "under-the-radar" semi-auto rifle):
1. It costs over $200 more than the 7400, for not much more utility.
2. It has "Automatic" (misleadingly) in its title, hence making it an easy mark for gun-fearing wussies (GFWs)
3. If said GFWs want to create a scare campaign against the BAR, you can rest assured that a few choice newsreel clips of the military BAR will appear on TV.
All that said, however, if I got a BAR as a gift, I wouldn’t get rid of it either.
It’s a fine rifle. And for those who like shooting thumpenblitzenboomer cartridges, you can get the BAR in up to .338 Win Mag, in case you’re ever attacked by more than one elephant at a time.
But I still prefer the sleek lines of the 7400. Just my opinion, of course.
