Browning High Power (9mm Para)

My dislike for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge is well known to all who read these Rants.  Nevertheless, there is one pistol I’d get in this caliber, because it was designed by John Moses Browning (bleesings be upon his name), and is one of the greatest pistols ever made.

Of course, I’m talking about the Browning High Power, which is a wonderfully-engineered masterpiece (like most of John Moses’ designs), and is reliable to a fault.

I remember that a buddy and I once tried to see if there was any type of ammo which would cause a misfeed, a jam or a stovepipe—not one, and we must have tried about a dozen different kinds, FMJ, hollowpoints, cast, even a couple of shotshells.  All fed perfectly, and performed as advertised.

Loaded with Federal Hydra-Shoks or similar, I’d take it as a self-defense piece any day of the week.

Finally, I’ve never known anyone who owned one to complain about it, or to have sold it without regretting it later.  High Power, high praise, indeed.
