Some time ago, I featured the monster Century Mod 100 revolver, chambered in .45-70 Govt. In that GGP, I compared the .45-70 cartridge to a .45 Colt.
Reader Terry R. very kindly sent me a pic of his own Century 100, comparing the gun itself with a Colt 1911:
To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee: ”Now that’s what I call a gun!”
I’m still a little iffy about shooting the .45-70 Govt cartridge out of a handgun, even Terry’s Century which, as he informs me, weighs in at 8lbs (!!!!).
Here’s why (comparing the Century’s .45-70 cartridge to the 1911’s .45 ACP):
Makes my wrist ache just thinking about it.
But, for all that, I think that Terry’s Century 100 is an unbelievably beautiful gun, and he’s a lucky sod to own it.
No, it’s not for sale, either. Can’t say I blame him. Talk about a companion piece for a Marlin 1895… although the holster would cost almost as much as the damn gun. Oh, and looky here, Terry sent me a pic of said holster:
Like I said: lucky sod.
