...in honor of the Scuderia winning the Formula One Constructor’s Championship for the umpteenth time, and also because it’s Italy Week on this website:
Aaaahhhh those were the days: no safety in a crash, no electronic gizmos, far fewer stupid race rules. Just a man sitting four inches off the ground surrounded by a massive gas tank and a high-performance engine behind his neck, racing as fast as he and machine could stand it, with a stick shift.
By golly: now they were worth a $100-million salary, compared to the (comparatively) pampered princes of today’s Formula One.
Yeah, I live in the past. So what?
