LitProf’s List

Longtime Reader Joe P. points me to a list of “must-reads” drawn up by an ”irked literature professor”.
Without knowing anything about her, I can tell she’s American, because she puts in crap like works of Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison, and those of Commies like GG Marquez and Isabel Allende ahead of giants like Charles Dickens, D.H. Lawrence and Victor Hugo.
I can also tell she’s an academic by the several spelling errors in the post. (She is, however, marvelously funny in her other posts.)
My immediate reaction is simple: our kids are doomed.
Then, from Reader Terry M., I find David Foster Wallace’s course prep from the University of Arkansas, of all places, and I feel a whole lot better. (Take the time to read this: if anyone wants to know what it would be like to be in a class taught by Professor Kim, here’s a good facsimile thereof.)
